Jaillance Crémant de Loire Brut NV

We were actually on the hunt for a Champagne when we sat down and tasted this beauty with Ludi. One sip later, we were sold!! ‘Australia has to have this’ JJ said to Popsy.
The Romans first planted vines in the Loire Valley of France in the 1st Century if you can believe that! They are master wine makers and this French sparkling wine is proof in the pudding. Made in the traditional method which means the first fermentation is done the same way as still wine however the second fermentation is done in the bottle. The grapes used in this wine are chenin, chardonnay and our little Popsy & JJ favourite, cabernet franc.
The moment you pour this ripper in the glass, you notice the straw like colour and persistent, super-fine bead. The nose is of peach, nectarine and apple with a hint of vanilla. It is a crisp and lively wine that dances in your mouth like a crowd at a well DJ’ed party. If you weren’t told it was a ‘Cremant de Loire’ on a blind tasting, you would swear it was a very finessey Champagne …without the higher price tag! Serve this wine cold! We normally put it in the freezer for the last 10 minutes before serving. We matched this perfectly with a beautiful snapper ceviche (click for recipe) – be sure to check out our recipe.
