The Magic of Tuscany!
The magic of Tuscan Sangiovese: Chianti, Montalcino, and Montepulciano
If you love wine and have never experienced the magic of a Tuscan sangiovese, it is a must that you seek out some good bottles and drink them with your wine loving friends! Tuscany is the inventor of the first sangiovese clones and is considered the global ‘mecca’of this grape variety.
It is grown in a number of famous Tuscan wine districts, the most famous being Chianti, Montalcino, and Montepulciano. A well chosen Tuscan sangiovese melds that unique Tuscan earthiness with glorious sultanas, prunes and soured fruits like no other wine on Earth. It comes mostly medium-bodied but can also come full-bodied. It has silky but ever present tannins that are simply made for pairing with barbecued pork and lamb. It also abounds with natural acidity that makes it a perfect match with tomato based pasta or pizza. Bellissima!
A special experience and even more magical knowing that the land that its fruit was farmed on has been producing wine for almost 3 millenia! For all we know, Jesus may have shared a Tuscan red while breaking bread with his apostles at the last supper! As luck would have it, you can find 2 amazing Tuscan sangioveses to take home at Popsy and JJ’s, Australia’s leading European wine reviewers. Both come from iconic artisan producer Rignana. The first is their Rignana Chianti Classico DOCG Organic 2016 which they rate 95 out of 100 points and the second is their Rignana Chianti Classico ‘Gran Selezione’ Single Vineyard Organic 2015 rated 97 out of 100 points.
