At Popsy & JJ, we know a good wine when we taste it.

We decided to take one for the team and set out to try and review as many wines out there as we can – and although we’ve only just made a dent in the rich and wonderfully inexhaustible world of wines, we’ve reviewed more than 2,000 wines to date and made a tough call to select the top 32 for our online shop, ready to be shared and enjoyed by our wine-loving friends all over Australia!

So, where did it all start?

Well, Popsy & JJ goes back further than 15 years to when we first met (we being Paul and Jonathon, the ‘Popsy’ and ‘JJ’ behind the brand!). Having in common one of the biggest loves of our lives – good food and good wine – we were called to share our great interest in the artisan wine industry with Australia, making these European wines more easily accessible to everyone.

Fast forward a couple of years, too many bottles of wine to count and a highly ambitious mission to source the best artisan wines from Europe back to Australia, and we reckon we’re well on our way to achieve our goal. Popsy & JJ is a joyous, creative and honest space where there’s only room for the things that lift the spirits and deepen our appreciation for the finer things in life.

Our reviews are full of colour and flavour, giving you every detail you need to know to make the best and most informed decision before buying your next bottle.

Selecting the perfect wine can be a long and even daunting experience. There’s so much to take into consideration! What is the occasion? Who will you be sharing it with? Which foods will you pair it with? This is certainly not something we take lightly!

But worry not – we’ve got you covered.

Even if you don’t know the first thing about wine, rest assured that you can wow your dinner guests by unveiling a prime bottle of red, white, rosé, sparkling or sweet wine – and even stun them with trivia about the north-eastern region of Italy where the microclimate of the Alps influenced the pigment and texture of the hand-picked grapes… Vaguely taking a whiff at your glass of wine and cautiously commenting on its “fruity smell” is something of the past!
