Chateau Robert Cotes-de-Bourg Bordeaux 2018
Make it yours now for
The Chateau Robert is a drop dead gorgeous right bank Bordeaux ripper. It is blended with 55% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 5% cabernet franc. It is no wonder that this wine was a standout as the family have been making it for 4 generations! It has been blended beautifully and its dark berries hit you on both the nose and palate. Along with its deliciously smooth tannins and a lovely dose of that Bordeaux earthiness, your taste buds will have a party! This is a really charming Bordeaux from the historic Cotes-de-Bourg village that will not break your budget.
The Romans started planting vines in this area back in the 1st century. They understood that the combination of rich soil, climate and exposition here were ideal for cultivating the grapes and this is still the case today. By the 19th century merlot was being regularly planted in the area. After a series of setbacks that included a severe frost in 1956 and several vintages in the 1960’s lost to rot, French authorities in Bordeaux banned new plantings of merlot vines between 1970 and 1975. Thankfully they are back planting again and the world can rest easy again.
The Chateau Robert can be matched beautifully with so many everyday meals. Just because you have a casual meal doesn’t mean you have to have a casual wine. We matched this with a lamb fillet and a good ol' mint sauce, and it was just heavenly!
